Intent reveals desire. Action reveals commitment.
Since working as a PT and coach this has become one of my favourite and most relevant quotes. My days are sometimes filled with “I’m gunna do this” or “I’ve decided my new goal is…” I love hearing these words when action to get these goals follow.
Unfortunately more often than not it doesn’t and these phrases are used for the purposes of instant gratification. These phrases instantly make the person saying them feel better about themselves but unfortunately that feeling is short lived and has no long term benefits physically or mentally. These phrases said over and over with no action following become very annoying if you are telling them to someone who actually genuinely cares about you.
I realised I am definitely guilty of this in areas of my life. When I sat back and questioned why, it became very apparent. The things I am saying I’ll do don’t hold enough value to me.
What I’m saying is don’t sit back and rely on instant gratification to get you through each day… It will eventually run out, Decide what you actually want and value and why, then decide how you will get it. People, including me will be more than happy to help you down this path. Just don’t tell me you value it when your actions show otherwise. If you realise you don’t value it, its not really that important to you, let it go, its a waste of time thinking and talking about it.
